Essential Self Defense Techniques For Women: The Difference Between Survivors And Victims

By: Shane
Because of the unfortunate cases of violence against women that are becoming more numerous by the day, self defense techniques for women are more important than ever. But you don't have to be an accomplished black belt martial artist to defend yourself in a potentially life-threatening situation. All you need is the determination to take charge of your personal safety.

Pepper spray is a good idea to keep on hand, but depending only on a spray bottle is not good. If the mace is knocked out of your hand or you couldn't get to it, what would you do?

This is where knowing the vulnerable places on your attacker is of great importance. The groin, eyes, and throat are all sensitive places and even if you are trapped on the ground, getting a well-placed punch or kick in a target area can debilitate the attacker.

Self defense techniques for women are being taught in classes every day, but you may not have access to such classes if you live in a smaller area. If this is the case you can teach yourself self defense through videos and instructional books online.

While this is not as effective as having real live instruction, it is still better than nothing, and you can improve flexibility and coordination by practicing self defense moves.

Being a victim is not a choice, but being a survivor is. By choosing to take your personal safety into your control, you are taking steps to prevent violence against yourself and women everywhere.
